Instructor - Jen Shin
One of the core tasks in literary analysis essay writing—that students are typically asked to do in school English classes—is dissecting a writer’s rhetorical strategies. Jen teaches students representative rhetorical devices (figurative language), how to identify them in a passage, and how to assess their functions in conveying the writer’s theme. Passages are selected from various fiction and nonfiction works.
